Surface mount technology (SMT) is the most common method in SMT technology. SMT mounting can remove electronic components of various sizes and shapes, such as capacitors, resistors, and transistors, from the feeder through automated equipment, place them in precise positions on the PCB, and finally weld them. This method eliminates the need for manual fine-tuning of each electronic component, making it more efficient and convenient.
Advantages:
-SMT can accurately locate electronic components, thus avoiding the tedious work of fine-tuning each component- SMT can achieve the smallest electronic components in military and computer applications- SMT demonstrates unparalleled efficiency and speed through the use of automated equipment.
Disadvantages:
-The prices of SMT equipment and accessories are very high and require a certain amount of cost- This installation method requires well-trained employees to operate.

Surface Squeeze Mount (SMD)

Surface Squeeze Mount (SMD) is another SMT mounting method, which differs from SMT in that it can not only attach surface components but also install connectors. This method has lower equipment costs, is easy to control during installation, and has good accuracy.
Advantages:
-SMD can install larger and heavier electronic components- SMD is a low-cost and easier to master technology.
Disadvantages:
-SMD can be used for the installation of connectors, but its connector points require more space, resulting in significant PCB space limitations- The accuracy of SMD is not as good as SMT technology.

Through-hole mounting (THT)

Through-hole mounting (THT)

Through hole technology (THT) is another common way of assembling electronic products. Unlike surface mount, THT punches holes on the PCB and inserts components into the holes from the bottom before soldering. This method is commonly used for assembling complex circuit boards, as THT components are larger than SMT components, making them suitable for high-power devices and larger circuit modules.
Advantages:
-THT provides better mechanical strength- THT is suitable for applications that require manual cleaning and maintenance.
Disadvantages:
-The cost of THT is usually higher than SMT- The connection time of THT components is longer than that of SMT components.
